Mike's 1st Excerpts, From His New Book!

AlmostAlmost An Aussie - Part 1 {Excerpts} by : Mike Colandro The next week was over to New Zealand for the Air New Zealand Shell Open outside of Auckland at " The Titirangi Golf Club " . The word , Titirangi , is a Maori word that means " A Slice of Heaven " and it sure proved to be my slice of heaven . A picturesque , hilly golf course , much the same as the old New England courses I learned to play golf on as a kid . My good friend picked me up at the Airport and we had dinner , then went back to his house , where I stayed for the week .~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Brett Smithies was his name and he lived in the quiet suburb of Devonport , across the bay from Auckland city center .Although New Zealand was not too populated , Auckland is one of the mosy spread out cities in the world It is a beautiful place with breathtaking views and mountains all around . The next day was the Pro - Am and I fulfilled my commitment to play although I got food poisoning from the night before and whatever I ate went right through me . The first day , Thursday , came and I was too afraid to eat and was really weak , however I shot 70 even par and was quite happy . After a spot of weak tea and toast the next day I shot a 65 five under and in contention . ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ There is an old saying in golf " Beware of the hurt golfer " and I guess they were right . I had a lovely home cooked meal at Bretts house and was ready the next day to go for it . I woke up to cool windy , rainy & sunny day , typical of Auckland weather in the spring . I felt the spirit of both my Dad and my former fiancee , Georgia inside me and I was ready for some KIWI MAGIC and hopefully my first big victory at the Air New Zealand Shell Open Championship ``````````````````````````````````````````
